WARNING: The newest version of DgVoodoo2 may not be compatible with the widescreen fix for Splinter Cell 1 (and possibly Pandora Tomorrow). To fix, follow the instructions below as normal, but then download DgVoodoo2 v2.55.1 (older version, scroll down on the site to see it) and go into the 'MS' folder in the zip you downloaded.

Move the 'D3D8.dll' file into the 'system' folder of the game's installation. Ignore the updater telling you there's a new version of DgVoodoo2 until the fix is resolved. I have opened an issue here if you would like to track when it's okay to let it update itself again:Saw a lot of posts asking these types of questions so hope to help out. This will also fix the game minimizing automatically with the widescreen fix! This works for Splinter Cell and Pandora Tomorrow, the latter of which isn't available to buy digitally. Obviously I can't tell you where to 'obtain' SC:PT, that part you can figure out, but I can list some instructions for getting it working properly on PC.
Also, the retail version of Pandora Tomorrow uses SecuROM DRM measures. SecuROM is notorious for not working at all on Windows 10, so I feel it's justified to find a cracked.exe file just to get it up and running.Make sure your game is patched to the latest verion. Patches can be found on the article for each game.
First, install the game as normal. Right click on the desktop shortcut (or find the game.exe where you installed it) and tick 'run as administrator', then click OK. The widescreen fix may not update properly otherwise. Quicksaves may also break if you don't do this on Windows 10.
Second, download the fix for your game out of the choices on this page, extract to the game directory. Merge folders with the same name and replace all files or it won't work (e.g. Extract the 'system' folder from the widescreen fix to the same 'system' folder in the game directory). The fix might want to update after running the game for the first time, so just let it do it's thing:. Optionally, download the hi-res textures from the PS3 HD remake version of the game and extract them to the 'textures' folder in your game directory. Click for Splinter Cell, and for Pandora Tomorrow.NOTE: I only had to do these next two because my system barred the widescreen fix from installing the lighting fix (dgVoodoo2).
Normally this is handled by the fix, but some admin/anti-virus systems can block it like mine did. Only attempt these if the widescreen fix didn't do it for you (you'll know if the game's lighting looks off, a great way to tell is if objects around the environment cast shadows. Third, download dgVoodoo2 from here. This can trigger anti-virus - explanation at the bottom of the post:. Finally look into (or extract) the.zip of dgVoodoo2 and go into the 'MS' folder, then extract D3D8.dll to the 'system' folder of the game.DONE!
Though keep in mind that your antivirus may delete the D3D8.dll file without telling you (like mine did) as it thinks it's a virus. This is due to it using.dll files to emulate older game functions (essentially how it can render the lighting properly in the first two Splinter Cells).
To circumvent this you'll need to add an exception to your anti-virus.A lot of antivirus software hates dgVoodoo2 but I've had it for years without problem and it's been used widespread to play older games as they were intended, which you can see for yourself just by searching around and seeing it discussed on many game preservation forums. Though it's completely up to you if you trust me on that.Oh, and make sure not to check 'Disable Fullscreen Optimisations' in the Windows compatibility tab. I got in the habit of doing this as it speeds up a lot of games, but for some reason doing it here causes the widescreen fix to mess up. Most of you don't need to worry about this, but any PC gamers such as myself who got into this habit will find this information useful. Finally: although this guide is for SC1 and PT, Chaos Theory also has it's own widescreen fix available. You don't need this for modern systems as the game runs fine as is, but it's very useful as otherwise the game will seem too zoomed in. Just thought I'd mention as most videos of the PC version on YouTube have the stretched HUD and zoomed-in camera so I'm not sure if it's common knowledge. I've never encountered that error but looks to be either a driver or engine issue.
I'd update your graphics card drivers and maybe reinstall the game. Running in admin mode can't hurt, either (don't see how it would fix the problem but you can never be too safe).Make sure your game is updated to 1.31 (select right country for your copy of the game):Also make sure you installed the widescreen fix correctly as per the guide - dgvoodoo2 might not be 100% necessary so try installing just the widescreen fix first and if it looks off/doesn't work then try a manual install.
This guide is a little old so you don't need to download the WIP version any more, the current version (the download marked 'dgvoodoo2 v2.55.1) is already good enough for the job now.Again, the widescreen fix attempts to install it automatically (say 'yes' if it asks to update) but some antivirus/admin systems can block it so you might have to do it manually.Oh, and make sure, when installing the widescreen fix, that the file structure matches up (i.e. Merge the 'offline' folder of the fix with the 'offline' folder of the game installation).Basically:. Reinstall, run installer as admin, as well as the game shortcut once installed. Make sure your version is updated patched to 1.31:.
Widescreen fix (w/ instructions, check the description):. DgVoodoo2 (v2.55.1 at time of writing, only attempt to install if the game doesn't work even with the widescreen fix)I've updated the post a bit to clear things up and update with corrected/relevant information. Pandora Tomorrow definitely runs at the highest resolution possible with the fix, just like all the other games.
The fix automatically adjusts the game (including HUD positioning and camera FOV) based on your resolution. If you want to change the resolution to anything but the maximum your screen can do with the fix installed, then you need to go into the folder you installed the fix in - inside the 'scripts' folder should contain a.ini file you can edit with notepad to change it manually (change resX and resY values respective to what resolution you want it to run as instead).tl;dr With the fix you won't get any benefit changing the resolution in game, use the provided.ini file. It automatically runs at your screen resolution by default anyway. I have tried so many things and this just won't work.

I've tested DgVoodoo by itself and it's good, but as soon as I apply the Thirteenag Widescreen Fix to either SC1 or Pandora Tomorrow it doesn't work. They come up with a 'bad image error', which supposedly has something to do with the d3d8.dll file extension not working.I've tried reinstalling many times, i've tried doing things like sfc scan, i've tried messing with administrative properties, hell I even made an entire command file made just for unregistering and re-registering almost every.dll file on my computer.
At this point, I don't know what to do, the.dll on the widescreen fix just won't be recognized.I have tried asking many many forums and people. Please OP, I know that you might not know the answer, but ANY HELP will be appreciated!. I booted up the game and let the fix update, only to find myself presented with your exact issue. This made finding a fix easier since I knew it was a new version of either the fix or DgVoodoo2 to blame. To my knowledge the built-in updater checks if DgVoodoo2 is up-to-date independently of the widescreen fix.
As such, it may update even if new versions of DgVoodoo2 are incompatible. I managed to sort it out by simply downloading an older version of DgVoodoo2 (2.55.1 - scroll down on the website to find old versions), then I went into the 'MS' folder of the zip file and manually put the D3D8.dll into the 'system' folder in the game installation.
The fix will keep asking you to update it but just click 'cancel' until the issue is resolved.I have opened an issue about this on the GitHub page for the fix so ThirteenAG can hopefully make his fix compatible with the newest DgVoodoo2 version. Feel free to track it here so you'll be able to update it safely once it's been sorted:I'll also put this info in the OP until I'm notified from GitHub that the issue has been resolved.Hope this helped!.
I can't express how much I love you right now! I mean seriously dude. Some people have supposedly had to reinstall windows just to fix.dll errors. I can't believe that such a simple fix is something that COMPLETELY went over my head.
I literally asked this question in a thread devoted entirely to DgVoodoo on Splinter Cell - and I didn't get a single 'Yeah, it isn't working for me too!' So I definitely thought I was just a crazy person. If I had known this was an outcome for other people, I probably wouldn't have spent so much time doing completely insane things I've never attempted before.THANK YOU, SO MUCH! I'm going to make a clean install just to be sure it will work. But I really think you found the issue! I wonder if everyone else just didn't update their game?

No problem dude! And I think the reason it hasn't been said sooner is because most people just haven't played it in a while (and the other widescreen fixes may not have this issue, again narrowing how many people would discover this). I hadn't touched it for a month or so (but still keep it around in case I feel like blasting through a level) and only did so when I saw your issue.
If I didn't see your post I wouldn't have even been aware until I decided to launch it again myself. Maybe others just assumed their copy still worked since it was perfectly functional before the DgVoodoo2 update without actually booting it up.Glad the issue was fixed with something so simple; ThirteenAG has responded to my GitHub post so I imagine we'll get a proper fix soon!.
